Art, Poetry & Music

Greetings, fellow art lover.
These pages contain an overview of my work as a multi-media/multi-genre artist working in disciplines ranging from graphic design, photography, digitally-altered photography, sculpture. music, and poetry.
My history with music and sculpture date back to my 20s in college at California State University, Chico. Since then, I have roamed the US from San Francisco to the steps of Washington DC with many stops in-between. I have lived near downtown Evanston, Illinois for the past four years.
Writing didn’t really take hold until my mid-50s but has since become a dominant creative outlet in my life. Music, I consider a hobby at this point, and photography/graphic art is the most accessible form of visual artistic expression I have available given my limited working space (though, I will occasionally mess up the place to work on a sculpture).
Photographically, I consider myself a landscape photographer, though I seldom have the opportunity for landscape photography in the city. Among my favorite subjects are trees and there are plenty of those to be found in the neighborhood. I gravitate toward nature where subject matter is concerned generally, so you will seldom see a human-made element in my work.
Sculpturally, I am abstract. One of my primary influencers in that department is Henry Moore. I have worked with a wide variety of media from bronze, to glass, to wood, to stone, and have recently taken up the challenge of finding ways to use discarded Styrofoam in my work (given that it’s free, and will probably last forever, not to mention that it won’t wind up in a landfill anytime soon).
As for writing, I have several self published books to my name, and (so far) one book (Longevity: Poems in the Key of Helen) that was published by an actual publishing house. My poetry has also been widely published in both online and print journals and anthologies.
In addition to viewing my work here, private showings are available by appointment only. Please, use the contact link below let me know of your interest in this regard.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you find something here that brightens your day.
